THE MAD MUMMY:RESURRECTION Pt. 2

It probably won't surprise anyone that my favorite horror fill of all time is The Mummy starring Boris Karloff. If you haven't seen it make a point of checking it out...it's worth the viewing. The movie was made at the time that the world was fascinated with the newly discovered tomb of Tutankhamun and makes use of the art and treasures that had been brought to light. (King Tut was the son of Akhenaten, the pharoah who fist causes our protagonist, Aten Ray, all his problems.)

Don't forget to visit our archives on the right for any episodes of this or other stories that you've missed. And most of our stories are available at iVerse/Comics Plus for your enjoyment: (And our financial gain.) To open a new window: CLICK HERE

(A promotional pinup I did for Ian Nichols, who helped edit the first couple issues of Mad Mummy.)

Our HBO Tales From the Crypt covers this week are A Slight Case of Murder starring one of my favorite actresses, Francesca Annis. She really captivated me when watching her on the amazing PBS series "Lily", a biopic on the 19th century actress Lily Langtry. However, since these shows were part of the ones shot in England, I didn't recognize her from the reference photos sent or discover this fact till years later. The second cover is Smoke Rings which featured a then very unknown Daniel Craig.

RETROWOOD H.I. OR L.O. Pt.6

One of my favorite comic projects was the fictional world of Retrowood, my answer to doing a historical story about Hollywood and the Great Depression without being burdened with historical accurary. Our motto was always our tales are based on False Stories and Innuendo.  Enjoy  private investigator J. Parker Wrighte on his quest for upward mobility in the land of sunshine.

Our Tales From the Crypt bonus covers this week are "Seance" starring John Vernon, Cathy Moriarity and Ben Cross, and written by Harry Anderson of Night Court fame. The second cover is "Showdown",directed by Richard Donner,  which was originally planned for a companion series called "Two-Fisted Tales" which was to have been hosted by Bill Sadler. Regretfully it never happened.  It was also one of the few covers that was pencilled by someone else (my studio mate Shawn MacManus) while I inked it.
