When I was trying to break into comics in the early 1970s, one of the best places to get a foot in the door was what were labeled "underground comics". With limited print runs you could only find them in what few comicbook stores that existed at the time, or in your local head shops (where all of us hippies bought our black lights, water pipes and cool posters.) But they paid a decent rate and it was a great learning experience. And best of all, I got to ink my own work...something I didn't get to do in standard comics for almost a decade. Can you dig it, man? (Unfortunately, they also let me letter the stories I worked on. Standards were low.)
Also this week an Archer and Armstrong pinup a did a while back, and a very funny rejection letter from my underground days.
Well, that was an ending I wasn't expecting! Do you not remember where it was published Mike or don't you want it's value to go up?
