THE MAD MUMMY:RESURRECTION Pt.3

It probably won't surprise anyone that my favorite horror fill of all time is The Mummy starring Boris Karloff. If you haven't seen it make a point of checking it out...it's worth the viewing. The movie was made at the time that the world was fascinated with the newly discovered tomb of Tutankhamun and makes use of the art and treasures that had been brought to light. (King Tut was the son of Akhenaten, the pharoah who fist causes our protagonist, Aten Ray, all his problems.)

Our Tales From the Crypt HBO Covers this week are "Split Personality", which Joel Silvers himself directed and starring Joe Pesci and two beautiful actresses in bikinis. I had a slight resemblence to our produced Gil Adler and during while I was talking a couple friends at the shoot, one of the girls starting waving furiously at me and smiling and quickly walking my way. When she got fairly close she stopped and announced to one and all: "You're not the man I thought you were." Gave my friends a big laugh. The other cover is for "Split Second" starring a young Brad Pitt, whom I never did get to meet.

  1. Brad Pitt wasn't in Split Second he was in King of the Road. I love your artwork

  2. Congratulations! You've just passed our hidden Tales From the Crypt quiz. Unfortunately, you win nothing. lol. Thanks for pointing that out; these were two shows that I was never around on the set so I never met the actors. Thanks for the compliments. Best, Mike

    1. Haha it's all good. Split Personality is easily one of my favorite eps in the entire series. I love watching Joe Pesci play like a sleezy conman. My sister loved the Split Second. That and Surpise Party was her favorites

  3. COH, You certainly know your Crypt history. Thanks for the insights you've passed on to me. Yes it was Tim Sampson in the show, not Will. And strangely enough I'm not sure if I ever even saw a rough cut of the King of the Road...might have just worked from stills. And as for moving to England for the one year, I'm sure it was definitely a budget move. There never seemed to be enough money for those guys to split three ways (HBO, Producers, and Gaines Estate.) Best, Mike
