Heroine Addiction: Part 1

For most of my career in comics, I was usually handed all of the female characters who had their own comics. It seemed only natural that I should put together a sketchbook of some of the lovely heroines that I have drawn over the years for Marvel, DC, and my creator owned comics. So here online, is Heroine Addiction, a collection perhaps more deadly than any drug.

This week's HBO Tales From the Crypt covers are "Maniac at Large", starring Blythe Banner (Gwenyth Parltrow's mom), directed by John Frankenheimer, and "Mournin' Mess", starring Steven Weber (who turned out to be a Bernie Wrightson fan) and Rita Wilson (the former Mrs. Tom Hanks).

The HBO Tales From the Crypt comicbook covers this week are from the episodes are "Last Respect", starring Emma Samms and "Let the Punishment Fit the Crime" starring Catherine O'Hara. The former is certainly the most Robert Fawcett influenced of all the covers I did.

This week's HBO Tales From the Crypt covers are from one of my favorite episodes, "Korman's Kalamaty" starring Harry Anderson, Cynthia Gibb and Colleen Camp. Since the plot centers around a cartoonist who's drawings start coming to life, I was brought in to do any on screen drawing action that was needed. Of course I jokingly told Harry that it was a good thing he was left-handed like myself or they might have had to replace him. The other two drawings were used in the episodes as props drawn by Harry's character.  Colleen Camp played his wife, and I never once made the connection between her and the Playmate of the Year who drives the Vietnam G.I. crazy in her cowgirl dance in "Apocalypse Now." Missed opportunities.
The middle cover with the TRex I seem to recall was pretty much drawn by my then assistant Don Cameron, who has since gone on to a long and successful career in 3-D animation design.
