This was a job I did for Boy's Life Magazine several years back...and was an interesting one from start to finish. It was great to be collaborating with Shakespeare...but as I learned, not everything thinks he can't be "improved" upon. More on that story in an upcoming Vozwords post, our sister blog. I'll also be posting as much of the original pencil, thumbnail, color and black and white originals in that blog. One of the real pleasures of this job was having my old friend John Ott handling the color. (You can see at the bottom a sample of what I would give him as a guide.)
Next week the conclusion. Below are some examples of the planning that went into the job in the form of character designs, thumbnails, pencils, the finished ink artwork, and my color roughs. More on that in an upcoming Vozwords.
