When I was drawing super hero comics early in my career, I was always far more impressed with the artists who drew graceful athletes, like Kubert and Gil Kane and early Jack Kirby, than the ones who simply super exaggerated the muscles. It was what I learned to appreciate watching not only basketball, but all athletics was that all the sports were actually a beautiful, though often violent, form of dance. And intelligence and passion were far more important than size or even skill.
Next week Lou is starting to have success in basketball...but his personal life is taking some hits. Be there for another episode of Court Wizard.
